5-23. An exquisite 19th Century European (probably French) carving of a woman (probably Spring of the 4 Seasons), with a dove on her shoulder, holding a basket. A beautiful face and delicately carved hands and feet, with superb details to her robes. I’d keep this one myself if I didn’t already have a similar piece. 8 ¾” on an ivory plinth. Excellent condition. Prices on fine European carvings continue to skyrocket, so this is a great buy.
Price: $3,395

5-25. A lovely 19th Century European rendition of a queen. Excellent workmanship of her face and robes. 8 ¾” on a wooden plinth, in excellent condition. A great buy in this quickly appreciating European ivory market.
Price: $2,295

ivory carving 5-33.  A magnificent, mid-19th Century German elephant ivory tankard, in superb condition. This 8” tall tankard is beautifully carved, with unusually deep relief and exquisite detail, depicting a revelry with maidens, satyrs, gods and beasts. Four faces of the Wing God (Jupiter?) adorn each foot; the finial is a lovely maiden, supplicating the Gods. I have seen somewhat larger, but poorly carved tankards, done in very shallow relief, sell for $18,000, but I bought this right, at auction in Montevideo.
Price: $12,900

6-04. A nice 19th Century European carving, probably French, of a partially nude woman, her robe draped around her, holding displaying grapes for inspection, possibly for wine-making. 8 ¾" on its plinth, in excellent condition. Prices on European ivory continue to skyrocket, but this is priced well below market.
Price: $1,295

6-09. A rare and unusual 19th Century European triptych, probably French, of a cavalier. Opened, it shows a scene of a cavalier delivering a message (orders?) to his general in the field. The interior scenes are carved in great detail, with exceptionally deep relief. At 8", it is in excellent condition and a great buy. Triptychs of this caliber recently sold at auction in excess of $10,000, when you calculate buyer’s premium and local taxes. An outstanding addition to any fine collection. Always a great conversation piece.
Price: $7,800

6-12. An unusual and amusing 19th Century European carving of a beggar, hand outstretched, as his dog does tricks. He’s also holding a puppy under his coat. A fine addition to any collection, in good condition, with a tiny loss in the back, barely noticed, to his scarf. 7"
Price: $1,295

7-01. A signed Japanese Meiji Period fisherman, landing a good fish, with his pole help high, his creel at his side. Patchy scrimshaw patterns on his robes is typical for the period. 6 3/8” for the figuring, with 11 ½” over all. In excellent condition
Price: $435

7-03. a Meiji Period Japanese okimono of a man holding a scroll for his son, depicting a scene of Shoki, the demon queller, subduing 2 Oni. In excellent condition, 6 ½”
Price: $550
